Line/Bar Charts

 

  • Label and explain your X and Y-axis.
  • Framed rectangles, as opposed to lines, are easier to understand.
  • Vertical formats are easier to understand over horizontal images.
  • Use the same scale in multiple charts.
  • Limit curves on a line graph to two or three data curves.
  • Bar graphs are more easily understood than pie charts.
  • Don’t compare more than five items on a chart.
